Deltex Medical Sponsors Return to Surgery Podcasts

Luminary speakers discuss the return to surgery in the wake of COVID-19.

Haemodynamic monitoring technology leader, Deltex Medical is solely supporting a series of podcasts as clinicians manage the return to surgery. Produced by TopMedTalk/EBPOM (Evidence-Based Peri-Operative Medicine) the discussion is both timely and appropriate as the demand for surgery increases. Panellists look at some of the latest research from a perioperative perspective regarding the essential question of when and how is surgery possible after a COVID-19 infection? In particular; “How do we balance that ideal with the other pressures coming to bear on patients, practitioners and public health as a whole?”

The podcasts are highly topical and relevant following the publication of a new clinical study in Anaesthesia journal entitled; Timing of surgery following SARS‐CoV‐2 infection: an international prospective cohort study.

Issues discussed on the first of two podcasts include timing of surgery after a COVID-19 infection, consideration of “long covid” patients and incidence of pulmonary complications and the prothrombotic state typical of sufferers.

Series of two podcasts about how to return to surgery in wake of pandemic

The first podcast is already online here. The second is due for release on April 22nd, details as per the poster.

Deltex Medical CEO Andy Mears said; “We’re delighted to be supporting the clinical community as it undertakes a return to surgery. Deltex technology exists to give clinicians the best chance of delivering successful outcomes from surgery. This is especially relevant in patients who have suffered the respiratory and other complications associated with COVID-19.  It’s natural that we’d want to enhance all aspects of patient care, in this case by supporting dissemination of vital information.”
