Monitoring flow by measuring flow

Improving patient outcomes is a high priority in modern surgery. Individualised Doppler Guided Fluid Management (iDGFM) using the CardioQ™/CardioQ–ODM™ has been shown to reduce postoperative hospital stay and complications following surgery. Additionally, as a fluid management tool in the Intensive care setting, CardioQ/CardioQ–ODM allows for rapid assessment and early intervention of a patients haemodynamic status. The CardioQ/CardioQ–ODM is easy and quick to set up, and therefore monitoring can start sooner rather than later, thus promoting a fuller faster recovery.

An oesophageal probe is inserted into the patients oesophagus, and measures velocity of blood flow in the descending aorta. The CardioQ/CardioQ–ODM then displays a velocity/time waveform, providing information for the Clinician to safely manage the patient's fluid status during surgery.

This area of the website provides you with educational material as to how to use the CardioQ/CardioQ–ODM, why it works and the type of patient population it should be used on. Also available on the menu bar to the right, are workbooks which go into more detail on the operation of the CardioQ/CardioQ-ODM as well as quick reference guides to explain the waveforms in surgical and intensive care settings.

For your own benefit, we recommend that you have a basic understanding of ODM from training by a Deltex Medical member of staff. All products are comprehensively supported by Deltex Medical's extensive clinical education team who can be contacted through the contact us section of this website.
